Following the more experimental 'Rainfall' and 'Jean Renoir', 'Delta Kiss' saw Louis Philippe return to the 'pure pop' stylings of his él days, with jazz double bass player and pianist Danny Manners coming to the fore as accompanist and arranger for the first time - the start of a collaboration which has carried on to this day. This album also sees the transition to a more orchestral sound, with the Covent Garden String Quartet appearing for the first time of many on a Louis Philippe album.
